Resources for Faculty Research Assistants

Call Number Guide

To find print materials in the Law Library, please consult the browsing guide linked below.  This will allow you to locate books on specific subjects in the stacks.  It will also tell you the location of popular titles, such as the United States Code or the Code of Federal Regulations.

Carrels

Summer: Once they are cleared at the end of the spring semester, you will have the opportunity to reserve a library carrel for your personal use for the summer.  To reserve a carrel, visit or email the Circulation Office.

Academic Year: See the research guide on Circulation & Interlibrary Loan for information on reserving a carrel at the beginning of the Fall semester.

Proxy Borrowing Cards

You can check out books from the library for your professor under his or her own name using a proxy borrowing card.  This will allow the books to circulate for the time allotted to faculty members.

You can obtain a proxy card by visiting or emailing the Circulation Office.

Summer Access--Lexis Advance, Westlaw Next & Bloomberg

Lexis Advance & Bloomberg Law:  Your access to these databases will remain unfettered throughout the summer.  No further action is required.

Westlaw Next:  Access is limited to individuals who are working in the non-profit sector; this includes those who are working as faculty research assistants.  You will need to fill out a form with Westlaw indicating where you will be working.

Research Consultations

Reference librarians are available for one-on-one appointments and research consultations.  We can assist with specific projects as well as provide general legal research instruction.  To schedule an appointment, please email Kim Mattioli.
