The Law of Canada: Secondary Sources

A guide to researching statutory and case law in Canada.

Locating Law Review Articles

Many Canadian law reviews are indexed 1980 - in the Index to Legal Periodicals  and Books. Some of the indexed articles are available in full text. Many Canadian law reviews, going back to vol. 1, are also contained in the HeinOnline Law Journal Library. All articles are available in PDF full text. You can use the Law Journal Library to look up articles by citations found in the Index to Legal Periodicals. However, the Law Journal Library can also be searched directly.

Locating Books on Canadian Law

To locate books on  Canadian law in the Jerome Hall Law Library collection do an advanced keyword search in IUCAT. For example, to locate books on Canadian constitutional law, search for the keywords 'constitutional law' in the title field, and the keyword 'Canada' in the subject field. You can limit your search by library to find materials in the Jerome Hall Law Library, or you can choose to search the Wells library as well, or any combination of IU libraries, by selecting the desired libraries in the Library or Campus filters.
