Labor and Employment Law: Secondary Sources

A guide to resources and databases in the area of labor and employment law.

About Secondary Sources

Secondary Sources are useful for their discussion and analysis of the law, and for locating citations to primary sources (leading cases, statutes and regulations).

The treatises, practice guides, and form books listed here can be found in the general collections of the library.

Hornbooks and nutshells are shelved at the circulation desk. (Circulation policies are listed on the library's website.)

Finding Materials in the Library

Use IUCAT to locate books, looseleafs, and journals (electronic and print).

How to locate legal treatises:

  • Search IUCAT by author, title, keyword, or subject heading (pay particular attention to the “location” information, since there are different locations in the library where books are classed by call number)
  • Search Lexis or Westlaw

Find journals (not articles) using IUCAT

  • From the main screen, look to the box on the right: More IUCAT Searches > Periodical Title Search
    • Note: This allows you to search for a journal title only; you cannot perform an article search in IUCAT
    • The IUCAT record will give you print and electronic holdings for a journal
