Working remotely doesn't mean you're working in isolation!

This page will provide information on law library resources and services available to help you continue your research and teaching from home.

Complimentary Trials from Legal Vendors for Spring 2020

Due to the COVID-19 closures, several legal vendors are offering complimentary access to their e-products for the semester. This list will be continually updated, but so far we have: 

IU Libraries Online Resources

In addition to the Law Library's index of databases, you have access to dozens of other online sources for multidisciplinary research through the IU Libraries.

Law Library Research Guides

The Law Librarians have authored a number of subject-specific research guides you may find helpful while working remotely as well. Have an idea for a research guide that would be helpful in your research? Email facserv@indiana.edu with a suggestion.

Remote Research Services

The reference librarians are available to assist with your research remotely. Contact them via chat, ask-a-librarian, or contact an individual specialist using the links to the left. 

Searching for Library Materials

You can search the print and electronic holdings of all IU Libraries using IUCAT, the University's online library catalog.

If you are working remotely and require only a chapter from a book or an article from a journal, the Law Library can scan the material and email it to you through our scan on demand service.

Need to Borrow from a Different Library? 

If the material you need is not available from an IU library, you can submit an interlibrary loan request, and our staff will try to retrieve it from a non-IU library. Physical materials will arrive at the library, and you will receive an email when it arrives. If you need a chapter from a book or an article from a journal, you will receive the item via email.

Need to Renew Materials?

If you borrowed something from an IU library and are an IU user, you can log in to your IUCAT account and renew online.

If you borrowed something through Interlibrary Loan or are an Indiana resident user, email lawcirc@indiana.edu.

In the event that you need to teach your course remotely, IU and the Law Library provide a number of resources to assist you.

Law Library Services

• Canvas Content - we can create research modules in your Canvas course sites to facilitate students' research needs.
• Guest Lectures - the reference librarians can offer virtual guest lectures by joining your class via Zoom, or create recorded tutorials on specific research platforms or subjects.
• Custom Research Guides - we can create custom, tailored research guides to fit your class syllabus
• Research Consultations - your students are welcome to contact a reference librarian for individual research consultations on their final projects. They can schedule appointments with any reference librarian using the links to the left.

IU Teaching Resources
