Susan deMaine

Experienced in reference and instructional services, Susan joined the Law Library in 2020 when she was appointed Director. She oversees the day-to-day functions of the Law Library and is a member of the Dean's Senior Staff.

Ashley Ahlbrand

Associate Director for Public Services

Ashley joined the staff of the Law Library in 2012 as the Educational Technology Librarian, and was appointed Associate Director for Public Services in 2017. In addition to overseeing the operations of Circulation and Reference, Ashley works on a variety of projects for the library, including management of our social media accounts and creating content for the digital sign. She provides research assistance through the reference desk and is also available for one-on-one reference consultations in person or over Zoom, by appointment. In addition to offer research assistance, Ashley also teaches legal research. She teaches the 2-credit Advanced Legal Research course, as well as two 1-credit specialized Advanced Legal Research courses: ALR: Tax and ALR: Research for Advocacy. 

Dick Vaughan

Associate Director for Technical Services

Dick joined the Law Library staff in 1990 and oversees the financial aspects of the acquisitions process, communicating with vendors and maintaining our contracts and licensing agreements. In 2020, he assumed additional responsibilities as Associate Director for Technical Services.

Cindy Dabney

Outreach Services Librarian

Cindy joined the Law Library staff in 2007.  As the Outreach Services Librarian, she is the liaison and lecturer for courses outside the law school with ties to legal research.  She has also created several marketing videos for the Law Library, available on our YouTube channel.  As a reference librarian, she maintains regular hours at the reference desk, teaches legal research in the Legal Research & Writing program, and co-teaches Advanced Legal Research for LLM and SJD students.

Maggie Kiel-Morse

Maggie joined the Law Library in 2019 as the Faculty Services Librarian. She manages the Library's Research Assistant program, responds to faculty requests, and maintains the Faculty Bibliography. Maggie also provides reference and instructional services, including teaching Advanced Legal Research for LLM and SJD students.

Kim Mattioli

Student Services Librarian

Kim joined the Law Library faculty in 2014. As Student Services Librarian, she coordinates the Library's Research Workshop series. She is also responsible for the exam study break activities in the Law Library lobby every Fall and Spring, and coordinates many field trips for the law students, including our regular visit to the Lilly Library to see rare legal materials, and community service activities, co-sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs. Kim co-teaches in the Advanced Legal Research course and gives guest lectures in LRW.

Jennifer Morgan

Documents Librarian

Jennifer has been with the Law Library since 1994, becoming Government Documents Librarian in 2001.  In this role, she oversees the development of the Law Library's government documents collection, as a Federal Depository Library.  She teaches the research component of the Law School's Fall externship program in Washington, D.C. In the Spring, she co-teaches a course in Government Information for IU's Department of Information and Library Science in the School of Informatics and Computing, and co-teaches this same course for the University of Washington's iSchool. She also offers a specialized Advanced Legal Research course focused on administrative law and legislative research. In addition, she maintains regular reference hours and teaches legal research in the Legal Research & Writing Program. In 2020, Jennifer was appointed to a 3-year term on the Depository Library Council of the Government Publishing Office.

Mike Maben

Cataloging Librarian

Mike joined the Law Library staff in 1988, helping to convert our catalog records into electronic format for our first electronic catalog.  Within the Technical Services department, he oversees the cataloging operations.  Mike is the recipient of the 2020 Renee D. Chapman Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to Technical Services Law Librarianship.

Rebecca Bertoloni-Meli

Head of Circulation and Patron Services

Rebecca was appointed Head of Circulation and Patron Services in 2001. She is responsible for hiring, training and supervising desk attendants and circulation assistants, electronic reserves, and interlibrary loan.

Rebecca is assisted with Circulation and Patron Services by Josh Sutcliffe, the Night Circulation Supervisor.

Melanie Smith

Night Circulation Supervisor

Melanie joined the Law Library staff in 2022. As the Night Circulation Supervisor, she works extensively with our interlibrary loan service and serves as the faculty courier. Melanie works Sunday-Thursday, 1p-10p, so if you have Circulation questions after business hours, she's the person to ask! 

Garron Quimby

Computer Consultant

Garron joined the Law Library staff in 2015.  His desk is located in the Law Library computer lab, and he is available to assist you with any computer or printing issues that may arise during your law studies.
